The slowdown in housing sales appears to be decelerating, with a drop in the single digits in June.
The Windsor Essex County Association of Realtors says housing sales dipped 6.08 per cent last month compared to June 2022. Realtors sold 525 properties compared to 559 a year ago.
So far this year, sales are down 26.06 per cent.
Listings also continued their slide in June. The number of new properties on the market fell to 1,141, down 27 per cent from 12 months previous. Market activity is off by 18.3 per cent compared to last year.
A total of 1,405 properties were listed for sale across the region when the report was issued.
On the upside, buying a house is becoming more affordable as the average price continues to come down.
On average, buyers paid $582,245 to buy a home in Windsor-Essex, down 3.75 per cent from a year ago and 19.5 per cent from a peak of $723,739 in March 2022. So far in 2023, prices have fallen 15.27 per cent.
