A lengthy investigation by Windsor police has resulted in the arrests of three suspects in connection with at least two break-and-enters and numerous fraud incidents.
Members of the Target Base Unit began by looking into a commercial break-in on May 26 on Eugenie Street at McDougall Street. Two people were seen on security camera footage forcing their way in and stealing three boxes of alcohol worth about $1,700.
A second break-in occurred on May 30 on Dougall Avenue near Cabana Road West. Two people, wearing masks, were caught on video stealing over $2,000 in lottery tickets and $1,200 worth of cigarettes. The lottery tickets were later validated at various locations throughout Windsor, with $590 in cash being returned.
Three suspects, two men, and one woman, were identified through the probe. A 31-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were arrested in June.
The 31-year-old male is charged with break-and-enter, two counts of wearing a mask to commit an offence, four counts of possession of stolen property, and four counts of fraud under $5,000.
The woman is charged with fraud under $5,000 and possession of stolen property.
The third suspect, a 32-year-old man, was arrested on Thursday by Ontario Provincial Police. He is being returned to Windsor where he will face three counts of break-and-enter, six counts of wearing a mask to commit an offence, and one count each of fraud under $5,000 and possession of stolen property.
These charges have not been proven in court.
