20-year-old charged with stunt and impaired driving in LaSalle

LaSalle police have cited a young driver who was allegedly caught doing double the speed limit while driving with alcohol in their system.

An officer conducted a traffic stop at around 2 a.m. Tuesday on Malden Road. The driver had been clocked doing 109 kilometres per hour in a 50-kilometre-per-hour zone.

The driver was a 20-year-old man who had a G2 driver's licence, a condition of which was violated when a roadside test determined that the driver had consumed alcohol.

Holders of a G2 licence may drive on any Ontario highway but must maintain a zero blood-alcohol level at all times.

The driver's licence was suspended for 30 days, and his vehicle impounded for 14 days.
