Police to hold emergency training exercise at U of W Wednesday

You may see an unusually high number of police officers on the University of Windsor campus Wednesday morning.

Windsor police will team up with the school's Campus Community Police for a training exercise, which will take place between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Memorial Hall.

Acting U of W Police Director Kevin Beaudoin said the training will enhance emergency preparedness.

"This training is a proactive measure to enhance our overall safety and preparedness in the event of an emergency," said Beaudoin. "Our goal is to familiarize everyone with proper emergency response protocols and provide valuable hands-on experience to our officers. By working together and participating in these exercises, we can strengthen our collective ability to respond effectively during emergencies and protect public safety and well-being."

Police are asking those near campus Wednesday not to be alarmed, but Memorial Hall will have restricted access during that time frame. People are being asked to stay clear of the area.

The university's emergency notification system will also be tested, which means students, faculty, and staff may receive emails or text messages.
