Local agencies set to upgrade facilities with provincial funding

Four local agencies will share $261,300 from the province to repair and upgrade their facilities.

Community Living Windsor, Harmony In Action, New Beginnings, and The Inn of Windsor are among 158 children's and social service agencies across Ontario getting funding from the Partner Facility Renewal Program.

Among the local projects are plumbing repairs at Community Living Windsor, heating and air-conditioning at Harmony In Action, and a new security system at The Inn of Windsor.

Shelters for women and children, homes that support those with developmental disabilities, those that help children and youth with special needs, and address the needs of human trafficking survivors can use the funding to improve accessibility, upgrade security features, and renovate spaces for programming.

"By funding these repairs, we are helping staff focus on supporting people in need of services in a safe and accessible space," said Windsor-Tecumseh MPP Andrew Dowie.

The government earmarked $21-million for the provincial fund this year. Agencies applied for funding and were evaluated based on need.
