Murder suspect to be arraigned in Windsor Thursday

The suspect in the murder of a man outside a Windsor daycare will face a judge for the first time Thursday.

Windsor police say they took 27-year-old Malique Calloo into custody Wednesday morning at the U.S. border.

Calloo had been on the BOLO Program's Top-25 Most Wanted List for the murder of Daniel Squalls. He had been arrested last month in Michigan, and the U.S. Marshals worked with the OPP's Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad to coordinate his extradition to Canada.

Police say Calloo shot Squalls outside a daycare on Hanna Street East in Windsor on November 28, 2022.

The first-degree murder charge has not been proven in court. Calloo's first court appearance is set for Thursday at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor.

The investigation is ongoing.
