The new McDonald's in Tilbury is officially open for business.
The building features double drive-through lanes, a digital menu board, free Wi-Fi, updated kitchen equipment, and a modern design both inside and outside.
There is seating inside for about 65 and separate stations at the front counter for ordering and receiving food.
The restaurant celebrated its new location with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Chatham-Kent Mayor Darrin Canniff on Wednesday night.
"It feels like forever," said Jason Trussell, a regional franchisee and the president of JnJ Foods Inc. "We're glad to have the restaurant open. The community seems to really like it."
Lobby hours are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. The dual drive-through will operate 24/7.
The store has 80 employees, but Trussel said the new location is planning on hiring up to about 120 employees total.
The new location opened on December 29 with a friends and family night, where employees raised $2,100 for the Ronald McDonald Houses in London and Windsor.
In addition to the grand opening, the Tilbury restaurant will be supporting Ashley’s Place, an organization that supports youth and people experiencing homelessness, as well as the Women's Centre.
For every Big Mac sold from January 10 to February 7, $1 will be donated to Ashley’s Place to help purchase supplies for those in need.
"When looking for an organization to give back, our team was passionate about choosing Ashley’s Place as the ideal organization to support," said Trussell.
