The French-language Catholic school board serving much of southwestern Ontario has named a new director of education.
Conseil scolaire catholique Providence (Csc Providence) announced Tuesday morning that Carolyn Bastien has been named the board's Director of Education, as well as Secretary-Treasurer.
"Over the past few months as acting Director of Education, Ms. Bastien has demonstrated a strong sense of leadership and collaboration as we continue to pursue the objectives of our 2021-2026 strategic plan," said board chairman Jacques Kenny.
Bastien already has years of expertise with Csc Providence. Out of her 20 years with the board, 15 of those have been as a business superintendent and treasurer.
"I am determined to uphold the tradition of excellence in our schools to ensure the well-being and success of every student," said Bastien in a media release. "With the entire team, we will continue to nurture a welcoming, caring, and respectful environment and ensure that our school board is a preferred destination for students and staff alike."
Bastien has overseen the creation and oversight of Csc Providence's strategic plan, its long-term accommodation plan, and its recently updated governance model. She has also chaired several provincial boards of directors.
She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Supervisory Officer's certificate. She is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Csc Providence, headquartered in Windsor, operates 23 elementary schools and eight secondary schools in an area stretching from Windsor-Essex to Woodstock, and from Sarnia-Lambton to Owen Sound.
