Four carjackings within 24 hours in Windsor

Windsor Police are hunting for a suspect in a spate of carjackings over 24 hours this weekend.

The first was at a restaurant drive-thru on Tecumseh Road East at McDougall Avenue.

Around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, the driver was in the line when a man walked up to his window, assaulted him, and demanded his vehicle.

The driver honked his horn, and the suspect ran away.

Only 90 minutes later, another driver was on Tuscarora Street near Windsor Avenue when he was sprayed in the face with a noxious substance and pulled from the vehicle.

The suspect then drove off in his vehicle.

An hour later, there was a third incident on Lincoln Road near Somme Avenue.

A person was delivering newspapers when he was sprayed in the face and forced out of his car before the suspect left in his vehicle.

The fourth carjacking was on Holburn Street near McGuire Street around 3 a.m. on Sunday.

Again, a man sprayed the victim and tried to steal the vehicle, but this time, he was unsuccessful.

Police are looking for a black man, about 30-years-old, 5'6", with a heavy build. He wore a green hooded sweatshirt and a black covid mask.

Investigators believe he was helped by an accomplice driving a light grey minivan, possibly a Grand Caravan.

Anyone living or working in those areas is asked to check their surveillance cameras.

Anyone with information should call the Windsor Police Major Crimes Unit at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830, Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477, or submit a tip online at www.catchcrooks.com.
