Officials at Windsor Regional Hospital are pleased to announce the return of curative radiation treatment after a cyberattack last month.
Treatments returned on Monday after hospital staff rebooked appointments following the hack on October 23.
The hospital is still working to restore other services with IT experts.
"WRH's team, the IT experts and application specialists have been working non-stop and will continue to do so safely until we return to normal operations," said Windsor Regional.
Until the hospital returns to normal appointment volume, it is working with Ontario Health and other cancer centre organizations to transfer patients who need timely care and address new referrals for radiation treatment.
Patients requiring chemotherapy and other related services continue to receive treatment at Windsor Regional, although plans are in place should they need additional capacity.
"WRH fully appreciates the stress this is causing our patients, and we are trying our best to accommodate their current clinical needs while working on an immediate solution," continued the statement. "Financial support continues to be available for travel and accommodation costs."
On Monday, the hospital revealed the cyber attack compromised some patient information, but it was limited to names and brief summaries about health conditions.
