Lakeshore and Tecumseh marketing commercial districts together

The Town of Tecumseh and Municipality of Lakeshore will share $30,000 to help brand some of their shared shopping districts.

The funds come from the Rural Economic Development program.

"This is a time where you just have to forget about a boundary and you have to look at the bigger picture regardless of who's promoting the business community there," said Tecumseh Mayor Gary McNamara. "We're inviting all of the folks around the county and the city to patronize these businesses."

The funding will support three primary commercial districts Tecumseh Main Street (the area along Tecumseh Road from the town's western boundary to one block east of Lesperance Road), Lesperance South (the commercial area south of Lesperance Road and County Road 22), and the Manning Road and Amy Croft Drive area.

"This is a great opportunity to demonstrate leadership to develop synchronized branding in an area where it's a boundary but it really is one seamless delivery of service that happens," said Lakeshore Mayor Tracey Bailey.

McNamara said they will work with the local Business Improvement Associations and small businesses to create the marketing strategy.
