With the holidays fast approaching, drivers are once again being reminded to not drink and drive.
The Windsor Police Service's Traffic Enforcement Unit conducted RIDE and traffic enforcement programs in Windsor and Amherstburg Friday night.
During the enforcement initiative, 100 vehicles were checked, 53 tickets or notices were issued, and one driver was arrested for impaired driving.
Police agencies have been running Festive RIDE programs as a way to deter impaired driving during the holiday season.
Earlier this year, West Region OPP said Essex County recorded the highest spike in impaired driving charges this year, an increase of 55 per cent compared to last year.
