The Boblo Island Ferry is back on the water but residents still have concerns.
The ferry was back in service on Friday night and ran throughout the weekend without issue.
But Amherstburg Mayor Michael Prue, who lives on the island, said after being without service for three weeks residents are concerned that the backup ferry is still out of service.
"The people on the island are very happy to have ferry service back. It's been a tough three weeks for many of them and all we can do is wait and see how the rest of the plan unfolds," said Prue.
Amico Properties owns the island and is responsible for providing transportation to and from the island. As part of the agreement with the town, it must always have a backup ferry available.
"It states very clearly that the ferry will always be operational and if it should be down for any reason there will be a backup ferry and that is not what is happening now," said Prue.
He said the municipality is reviewing the contract to see what can be done to ensure the needs of residents are met.
