Three Windsor arrests tied to multi-provincial child pornography investigation

Windsor police say three men face multiple charges as part of a widespread probe into child pornography.

Members of the Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit worked with a massive operation that included police in Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick. Among the agencies involved were Sûreté Du Québec, Ontario Provincial Police, and the RCMP.

Windsor officers obtained warrants last week and arrested three people from the city.

Gary Nash, 84, is charged with three counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of accessing, and two counts of making child pornography available.

Gorg Safarek, 66, is charged with two counts apiece of possession of child pornography, accessing child pornography, and making child pornography available.

An unidentified 40-year-old man is charged with four counts of possession of child pornography, four counts of accessing, and three counts of making child pornography available.

The charges have not been proven in court.

The multi-provincial investigation included the arrests of 29 people in Quebec aged 18 to 84. Six municipal police services in Quebec were involved, mobilizing 300 sworn officers and civilians.

More information on the Quebec investigation is available on the Sûreté Du Québec's official website (in French).
