A Windsor-Essex agency has put out a call for people to support its clients during the holiday season.
The Windsor-Essex Children's Aid Society's (CAS) Foundation has its holiday program in full swing, a tradition going back about 40 years.
The holiday program ensures that families and youth can celebrate the holidays. Mike Clark, the CAS' manager of public relations and fund management, told WindsorNewsToday.ca that it's vital families and independent youth are thought of during the holidays.
"The priority of the new campaign is to strengthen families and to support youth, particularly those who live independently because they have very little sources of income and really need a lot of the basic essentials," said Clark.
CAS families are registered in a wish-list program, and Clark said there were 619 entries, all of whom have been helped. However, the need will continue through the holiday season.
"That is due to the support of our community, but we have many other families and youth that have a need this time of year," said Clark.
The foundation is seeking gift cards, which can be used to buy groceries, new winter coats and accessories, home items such as bedsheets and towels, and personal hygiene items.
Clark said the average donation for a family of four is $400, though any amount will be welcome.
