The Canadian Mental Health Association - Windsor-Essex County Branch and the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ontario will share the $9,400 raised during Firefest 2023.
Nearly 300 runners and walkers participated in the Run With Responders 5K last September.
"Mental health is key to our well-being, and we can't be truly healthy without it," said CMHA WECB Director of Communications Kim Willis. "It involves how we feel, think, act, and interact with the world around us."
The funds will support the Sole Focus Project, prioritizing mental health education, training and awareness.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics is an annual event involving police officers worldwide, championing acceptance and inclusion for those with intellectual disabilities.
Each charity received a cheque for $4,700 on Friday morning.
