What's open and closed in Windsor-Essex on Christmas-Boxing Day weekend?

Many Windsor-Essex businesses will be closed this extended holiday weekend, to allow employees to enjoy the time with loved ones.

All federal, provincial, and municipal offices will be closed Monday and Tuesday, Christmas and Boxing Day respectively. Please contact your municipality for more information, as closure dates may vary.

There will be no mail delivery on Monday or Tuesday. All Service Ontario branches are closed on Monday and Tuesday, though some transactions can be performed online.

The four publicly-funded school boards serving Windsor-Essex will be on their winter holiday break until Monday, January 8, 2024. The University of Windsor and St. Clair College will also be closed.

Most Beer Store locations will be open Christmas Eve Sunday until 6 p.m., with all stores closed Christmas Day. Select outlets are open on Boxing Day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Check with your favourite location for hours.

At the LCBO, most outlets will close on Christmas Eve at 6 p.m., and remain closed Monday and Tuesday.

The three malls serving Windsor-Essex are closed on Christmas Monday. Devonshire Mall is open on Christmas Eve from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will reopen on Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tecumseh Mall is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, then Boxing Day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Windsor Crossing outlet mall in LaSalle is open Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., then Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

All branches of the Windsor Public Library are closed Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, but open regular hours on Wednesday through Saturday this week.

Essex County Library branches are closed through Boxing Day, then open regular hours Wednesday through Saturday.

In the city of Windsor, there will be no trash pickup on Christmas Day. Residential garbage collection will be delayed one day this week. Commercial trash and recycling pickup will continue normally.

The city's public drop-off and hazmat disposal depots are closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

The 311 Call Centre is closed on Monday and Tuesday. The 211 call centre will operate 24/7 as usual.

All Windsor community centres and customer care branches are closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Check with your favourite facility for hours next week. Windsor's arenas will close at 2 p.m. Sunday. Lanspeary will reopen Boxing Day for regular rentals, and all other facilities reopen on Wednesday.

The city's Homelessness and Housing Help Hub (H-4) at Windsor Water World will be open each day from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., except for Christmas Day, when it will close at 2 p.m.

The Windsor International Aquatic Training Centre will be open for modified hours from Christmas Eve through Sunday, January 7, 2024. It will close completely on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Visit the swim schedule on the City's recreation website for details.

Adventure Bay Family Water Park is closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day, then open from noon to 4 p.m. daily for the rest of the winter school break.

There is no parking enforcement in Windsor on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or Boxing Day. Street parking will be free. Garages and service lots will charge for parking as usual. The parking enforcement payment office will be closed on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.

Transit Windsor will run on modified schedules on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Check the website for specific information. The tunnel bus to Detroit will not run on Christmas Day.

The Francois Baby House is closed through Tuesday, but open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through New Year's Eve. The Chimczuk Museum is closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Boxing Day, through New Year's Eve.
