LaSalle set to ring in New Year with fireworks

The Town of LaSalle hopes you'll join everybody at the Vollmer Culture and Recreation Centre this New Year's Eve for fireworks.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. behind the outdoor pavilion near the splash pad. The fireworks will be visible from any parking lot on-site.

Parking on the road, grass or shoulder won't be allowed, so those who come should park in one of the lots at the centre and stay in their vehicle.

Essex Powerlines sponsored the show.

The town has to follow strict guidelines to put on the show, including an environmental assessment study and a commitment to plant trees to offset emissions. Environment Canada regulates the chemicals, and town staff will clean the site after the show of any debris, paper, and plastic.

The town points out one interesting fact. The fireworks display will generate less CO emissions than a single vehicle travelling 100 km/h for ten minutes.
