Windsor holding a free summer drop-in program at Mitchell Park

The City of Windsor has offered residents another option to get kids out of the house during summer break.

Working with the Downtown Windsor Community Collaborative, the City's parks and recreation department is offering a free drop-in summer program at Mitchell Park.

The drop-in program runs every day from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and it began on July 10. It's the latest in a series of park-based programs.

"Our recreation team is very pleased with the success to date of this innovative and collaborative initiative," said Jen Knights, the City's Executive Director of Recreation and Culture. "Placemaking and community-building that incorporate wellness, arts, and active living are an integral part of our team culture and goals, and we look forward to seeing the program continue to grow as the summer progresses."

The drop-in program at Mitchell Park offers a full slate of sports, active games, passive games, arts and crafts, and other activities. It runs seven days a week through September 1.

The program is free, but parents are required to pre-register on the recreation department's website or by calling the City's booking centre at (519) 255-1161.
