Several facing charges after retail thefts throughout the holidays

The Essex County OPP Community Street Crime Unit was busy over the holiday season.

During a proactive retail shoplifting blitz between December 6 and 14, officers worked with businesses to identify active shoplifters.

As a result, nine people were arrested and charged with a total of 24 charges. Over $2,000 of stolen merchandise was recovered during the blitz.

The Community Street Crime Unit was also actively investigating break-and-enter and shoplifting incidents at three Lakeshore businesses.

This investigation led to the arrest of a 34-year-old Windsor man. He's been charged with break and enter, possessing a break and enter instrument, mischief under $5,000, and theft under $5,000.

Anyone with information regarding this or any incident is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or leave an anonymous online message at www.catchcrooks.com.
