A Windsor man no longer faces a mischief charge in connection to the blockade of the Ambassador Bridge in February 2022.
The Crown dropped the charge against Kevin Bindner on January 12 after he agreed to donate $500 to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation. It was part of the alternative measures process outlined in the Criminal Code.
The Democracy Fund covered the cost of his defence and 12 other protesters who had their charges withdrawn.
Bindner's trial was scheduled in April.
"We are pleased with the result," said his lawyer, Adam Blake-Gallipeau. "I think it was a wise decision and a well-reasoned position the Crown took."
Bindner argued police stopped him as he walked with his wife at a crosswalk near the protest.
