Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare has been chosen as one of a handful of sites across Canada to participate in an initiative designed to enhance treatment for schizophrenia.
HDGH, along with the Canadian Mental Health Association Windsor Essex County Branch (CMHA-WECB), is one of several sites nationwide that will take part in an 18-month project promoting treatment, strengthening care delivery, and improving outcomes for those living with schizophrenia.
The project is a collaborative effort of the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) and the Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences.
"As a specialized hospital providing an array of mental health and addictions programs and services, HDGH, in collaboration with our partners at the Canadian Mental Health Association Windsor Essex County Branch, expresses enthusiasm and gratitude for being designated as two of the four distinguished demonstration sites nationwide," said HDGH President and CEO Bill Marra. "Our collective goal is to dismantle barriers and cultivate a future where individuals impacted by schizophrenia receive the support they rightfully deserve."
Luciano Carlone, Interim CEO of the CMHA-WECB, said the project will make good use of existing programs.
"With the proximity and integration of mental health leadership between the two organizations, clients can experience supported transitions between CMHA-WECB and HDGH programs as needed to facilitate the client recovery," said Carlone.
HDGH and the CMHA-WECB join Adult Forensic Mental Health Services in Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services, and the Seven Oaks Tertiary Mental Health Facility in British Columbia.
