Windsor grandmother wins a 'merry' $50,000

A Windsor woman took advantage of a limited-time lottery offer, and it paid off.

Evelyn Bondy spent $20 on the OLG's Merry Melodies game.

"I typically play Lotto 6/49 and Lotto MAX. I bought a Merry Millions ticket this time because I noticed the Early Bird draw was on my sister’s birthday," said Bondy. "I was at the store when I checked my ticket, and I didn't know what I won at first. I gave the ticket to the store clerk, and he was so shocked when he saw I won $50,000."

Bondy picked up her $50,000 cheque this week at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

The mother and grandmother plans to use her winnings for travel and put some aside for savings.

Bondy purchased her winning ticket at a Petro Canada on Huron Church Road in Windsor.

Merry Millions was offered by the OLG between November 21, 2023, and January 9, for $20 a ticket. There were three guaranteed top prizes of $1-million, three $50,000 Early Bird prizes, plus 402 additional prizes between $1,000 and $250,000.
