Four drivers charged, impaired driving problem continues in Essex County

Drivers from Leamington, Essex, Kingsville, and Windsor face impaired driving charges following four separate incidents in Essex County.

The first incident resulted in a two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 3 in Tecumseh was last Thursday night.

No one was hurt, but a 40-year-old man from Leamington faces two impaired driving charges and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on Wednesday.

The other three incidents were on Saturday.

Two involved a vehicle being driven erratically on County Road 13 in Essex and Division Street South in Kingsville early Saturday morning.

The Ontario Provincial Police charged a 73-year-old man from Essex and a 25-year-old man from Kingsville.

Saturday night, the OPP received a call about a possible impaired driver on County Road 42 in Tecumseh. A 62-year-old Windsor man was arrested after a roadside test.

Essex County had the fourth-highest number of impaired driving charges last year, with 367 offences in 247 incidents.
