Invest WindsorEssex hunts for new CEO

The agency spearheading local efforts to attract new investment and jobs is looking for a new Chief Executive Officer.

Stephen MacKenzie started his new job as an advisor of innovation and partnerships at the University of Windsor. He was seconded there as of February 19.

Invest WindsorEssex posted MacKenzie's job on its website and partnered with Odgers Berndtson to find his replacement.

Whoever replaces MacKenzie will have big shoes to fill, considering he helped land billions of dollars in investment since 2014, including the NextStar EV battery plant.

"Working with a distinguished Board of community leaders, the CEO will drive the formulation and implementation of a comprehensive roadmap for economic development across the region," said the posting on Invest WindsorEssex's website. "In a globally competitive, knowledge-based economy, you will position the region as a preferred destination with a diverse workforce and forward-thinking growth agenda."

The winning applicant must be comfortable working with executives, government representatives, and community leaders.

The City of Windsor and the County of Essex funds the not-for-profit agency.
