Popular Amherstburg pub to close its doors

A landmark Amherstburg watering hole is about to be shuttered.

The Lord Amherst Public House and Wine Lounge, the pub's full name and located on the corner of Dalhousie and Murray Streets, will close its doors this spring, according to its Facebook page.

The business reported that the closure is due to a "change of ownership".

"It has been an emotional and difficult time for us to say goodbye," read the post. "For those that have been with us for years or have just found us, we are incredibly humble and thankful for your support. From lunches to dinners, first dates and engagements, late-night parties, celebrations, live music, and much more, we will forever cherish the smiles, and laughter, chaos, and memories. You made Lord Amherst a special place to be."

Until the closure, the pub will operate with reduced hours due to staff constraints. Those who have gift cards to the Lord Amherst are encouraged to use them as soon as possible.

The pub has been open for 13 years.
