Amherstburg retiree celebrating lottery win

An Amherstburg man is feeling "euphoric" after his first big lottery win.

Retiree James Pearson won $77,831.40 from the LOTTO MAX draw on January 30, 2024.

Pearson said he plays the lottery once a week.

"I normally check my LOTTO MAX tickets the morning after the draw. I checked my first few and won nothing, and I checked the next one and noticed I matched all the numbers. I turned to my wife and said, 'Honey, we won the lottery!' She couldn't believe it!"

The winning ticket was purchased at Sobeys on Sandwich Street in Amherstburg.

Pearson plans to use the money in his retirement.
