Tips sought in vandalism at Tecumseh ballfield

The Town of Tecumseh is appealing for help in finding a vehicle that damaged a baseball diamond on St. Patrick's Day.

According to the X account of the Tecumseh Thunder baseball team, a pickup truck was spotted on a surveillance camera making "donuts" on the practice field that adjoins the diamond at Lacasse Park.

The vandalism took place sometime Sunday afternoon.

The baseball complex is in the midst of a renovation set for completion by the start of baseball season.

"We have just finished investing four-million-plus dollars of taxpayers' money in restoring that iconic baseball stadium and field," tweeted Tecumseh Mayor Gary McNamara. "This is beyond pathetic!"

The Town has notified Ontario Provincial Police, and an investigation is underway.

The suspect vehicle is a black, dark-coloured, late-model Ford F-150 pickup truck, which was seen on camera leaving via Lacasse Boulevard.

Anyone with information on the vehicle, or who may have witnessed the incident, should call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
