LaSalle Police remind residents to lock their vehicles. They say it works, and they have evidence.
A resident on Bridgeway Boulevard near Ninth Street called police early yesterday morning to say they had video of a man trying to break into their vehicles.
The video shows the man walking up their driveway and trying the handles on two parked vehicles. They were locked.
When another car approached, the suspect ducked behind one of the vehicles and then left empty-handed.
"Locking your doors works!" said police. "Yes, thieves could still break a window to get in, but locking your doors and keeping valuables out of sight significantly reduces your chances of becoming a victim of theft."
Police are looking for a white man wearing a black jacket with a hood, black track pants with red stripes, white running shoes, and a dark-coloured baseball cap.
They hope anyone who recognizes the suspect will call them at 519-969-5210, Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477, or leave a tip online at www.catchcrooks.com.
