Two Windsor-area companies can expand thanks to provincial investment

A pair of local companies will share more than $424,000 from the province to expand operations and create 23 new jobs.

Dimachem in Windsor is investing $1,186,398 in three new liquid blending production cells to increase capacity and manufacture products currently imported into Canada.

The investment will create 16 new jobs and help retain 30 others.

The company manufactures chemicals used in laboratories, agriculture, wastewater treatment, and water treatment.

The government is investing $177,960 through its Regional Development Program's Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness Program.

The second company is Glider Guard Tool & Die in Tecumseh. It's investing $2,840,515 to expand its operations another 4,000 sq. ft. and buy a new high-speed five-axis milling machine and software. It will create seven new jobs and retain 88 other positions.

"The expansion that this is funding has been allocated to allow us to stay competitive in the automotive tooling sector," said Engineering Manager Brenn Cox. "With the highly competitive nature of our industry, it is imperative that we continue to invest in the latest equipment available to build some of the best tools in the world."

The province is contributing 246,077 to the project.

"Glider Guard Tool & Die's investment will grow local manufacturing and create good paying jobs for workers and families in Windsor-Essex," said Windsor-Tecumseh MPP Andrew Dowie, who announced the funding through the Southwest Ontario Regional Development Program.

Ontario has provided over $110-million to support 100 projects through the program, helping to create more than 2,300 jobs.
