Windsor man arrested after traffic stop north of Huntsville

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say a Windsor man was one of two people arrested after a traffic stop resulted in illicit drugs and weapons being seized.

At around 8:30 p.m. on Good Friday, officers from the Almaguin Highlands detachment conducted a traffic stop on Highway 11 in Strong Township, north of Huntsville.

Police eventually arrested the two occupants and searched the vehicle, where suspected drugs with a street value of $10,000 were seized. Cocaine, methamphetamine, hydromorphine tablets, and fentanyl were confiscated, plus about $1,700 in cash.

Also seized were a loaded rifle, ammunition, brass knuckles, break-and-enter tools, knives, and a mask.

A 40-year-old man from Windsor faces numerous charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, identity fraud, possession of cocaine, methamphetamines, and opioids with intent to sell, possession of stolen property under $5,000, and failure to comply with orders.

A 31-year-old woman from Whitby was arrested on similar charges.

The charges have not been proven in court. Both suspects were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
