Nominate a nurse who has made a difference

For the past 17 years, the Windsor-Essex chapter of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario has honoured nurses who have gone the extra mile to make a difference in the lives of their patients.

It's time again to nominate a nurse who fits that bill.

The public can write an essay with 500 words or less to highlight a nurse who has made a patient's stay in the hospital easier by giving their all in their role as a healthcare provider.

The Windsor-Essex chapter of the RNAO invites residents to nominate an outstanding nurse for the Lois Fairley Nurses Award.

Essays can be uploaded online at www.face-to-face.com until April 23.

The award presentation is during Nurses Week.

Lois Fairley graduated from Grace Hospital's nursing program in 1955. She spent her career caring for patients at the former Grace Hospital as a nurse and head nurse, as a member of the Provincial Board of Directors of RNAO, President of the Ontario Nurses Association, and on the St. Clair College Program Advisory Committee.

She passed away in 2007.
