Body found at scene of Windsor house fire

Windsor police are investigating after a body was found in the rubble of a house fire early Monday.

Windsor firefighters and officers responded around 4:30 a.m. to a fire on Bernard Road near the W.F. Herman Academy.

After the fire was put out, a body was discovered.

The Windsor police Arson and Major Crimes Units have taken over the investigation, as they determine how the fire started and the circumstances surrounding the body on the premises.

Investigators have asked residents and business owners in the neighbourhood to check their surveillance cameras and give them a call if there is anything unusual.

Anyone with information should call the Windsor police's Major Crimes Unit at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4830, or the Arson Unit at ext. 4330. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
