The family of a Windsor man seriously injured in Cambodia is turning to the community for help.
A motorbike struck Chai Sok as he visited family in Cambodia on April 2.
Medical officials in Cambodia initially assessed his injuries as minor, but his condition soon deteriorated.
He suffered a brain hemorrhage and has undergone extensive surgeries at Bangkok Hospital Chanthaburi. His family said he faces a long recovery and has launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover his medical bills and a repatriation flight home.
"The dreams Dad had for his retirement have been shattered, replaced by mounting medical bills and uncertainty about what lies ahead," read the campaign. "He's fighting a battle far from home without his children by his side."
Sok did not have traveller's insurance, and the flight home could cost $50,000. His first day in the hospital cost approximately $18,900.
"These staggering expenses highlight the urgent need for financial support to ensure his safe return and ongoing medical care," said the family.
So far, the campaign has raised over $24,000.
The family hopes to raise $100,000.
