A Windsor holiday tradition has begun the process of looking for a new base of operations.
Sparky's Toy Drive, which has provided holiday gift baskets for less fortunate families at Christmastime for many years, will soon leave its home at Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare (HDGH).
Sparky's co-head Joshua Easby told WindsorNewsToday.ca that the drive will always show gratitude to HDGH for giving them space.
"We are forever grateful to Bill Marra and all the staff at Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare for all their support over the past seven years," said Easby. "They've been an amazing support system for us and our cause, but unfortunately, it's time to move on."
The space that Sparky's Toy Drive had been utilizing is being reconfigured by the hospital, raising the need for a new home. Easby had some characteristics in mind.
"We're looking for a space that's ideally anywhere between 7,000 and 10,000 square feet, somewhere ideally within the city of Windsor boundaries," said Easby. "Our cause assists children and families within the Windsor city limits during the holiday season."
Easby added that a location that is accessible year-round is also desired. Although the Toy Drive is a holiday initiative, he said it does take time to sort donations and distribute them.
