Two weekend fires probed by Windsor police

Windsor police's Arson Unit has launched investigations into two suspicious fires from the weekend.

The first broke out shortly before 3:30 p.m. Sunday on McKay Avenue near Riverside Drive West. Windsor Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire. All those in the house were able to escape unhurt.

Damage in the first fire was estimated at $200,000.

The second took place just before 2 a.m. Monday at a vacant apartment building on Ouellette Avenue near Elliott. 

No injuries were reported, and damage was estimated at $150,000.

While police believe the two fires are not connected, the investigation into their cause continues.

Residents and business owners in the areas of both fires are asked to check security camera footage and give Windsor police a call if there is anything unusual.
