A new sailboat sculpture was officially unveiled in Lakeshore's Lakeview Park Wednesday.
The sculpture was made possible through a grant from the WindsorEssex Community Foundation to celebrate its 40 years in the community. The foundation supported a waterfront project in each of the Windsor and Essex County municipalities in 2023 to honour its legacy.
"We're really thrilled that when we're done we're going to have invested over $380,000 in waterfront development across Windsor Essex County," said Lisa Kolody, executive director of the WindsorEssex Community Foundation.
The large metal sailboat sculpture, designed by Landscape Effects, will be a part of the waterfront attraction at the park and marina.
"This really matched the landscape of the area. The backdrop with the water, the little bridge, and the reeds alongside is just such a gorgeous, perfectly set sailboat," said Lakeshore Mayor Tracey Bailey.
Other projects supported by the WindsorEssex Community Foundation include additional seating along Windsor's riverfront trail and improvements to the landscape around LaSalle's new event space.
