A familiar face will now be at the helm of one of Windsor-Essex's largest union locals.
James Stewart has been elected as the new president of Unifor Local 444, succeeding the retiring Dave Cassidy.
Stewart was previously the local's secretary-treasurer.
Voting took place on Wednesday and Thursday, with the results announced on Friday afternoon.
The other officers elected this week are first vice-president Mike Stevenson, second vice-president Mike D'Agnolo, and third vice-president Steve Morgan.
Manny Cardoso moves into the secretary-treasurer role, and Jon Binns is the recording secretary.
Cassidy, who had served as the local's president since 2018, announced his retirement last month and endorsed Stewart to succeed him.
Unifor Local 444 represents workers at the Stellantis Windsor Assembly Plant, Caesars Windsor, and other employers.
