A suspect in a violent 2018 murder will have to wait for his trial behind bars after Windsor Police found out he allegedly violated two of his bail conditions.
Raul Huezo was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 19-year-old Darrion Moffat in September 2018 at a home on Hall Avenue. He was released on bail in May 2020 so long as he wore a GPS monitoring device.
While waiting for his trial to begin in July 2020, police arrested him again and charged Huezo with multiple weapons offences and breach of a probation order.
Once again, the court granted him bail with conditions to avoid drinking alcohol and using his cell phone.
Earlier this month, Windsor Police received data from his GPS monitoring device suggesting he violated his bail conditions once again.
Officers arrested him at his home on Monday and charged him with two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
Windsor and LaSalle Police launched their Offender Management Unit in March to monitor suspects at high risk of reoffending. Specialized bail compliance officers supervise those under house arrest, curfew, or electronic monitoring, ensuring suspects remain accountable to the courts.
