What's open or closed this Victoria Day in Windsor-Essex?

Many people are taking advantage of the unofficial start of summer by taking the day off Monday.

Victoria Day, which kicks off the Canadian summer travel season, is a statutory holiday, and that means many places are closed or on abbreviated hours on Monday.

All federal, provincial, and municipal offices will be closed on Monday. There will be no Canada Post delivery.

All ServiceOntario branches are closed, but some transactions can be performed online.

Select Beer Store locations are open on Victoria Day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Check with your favourite outlet to avoid a wasted trip.

All LCBO locations are closed on Monday.

Devonshire Mall in Windsor is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Tecumseh Mall in Windsor is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Windsor Crossing outlet mall in LaSalle is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The 311 call centre is closed on Monday. The 211 call centre will be open as usual for 24 hours.

In the City of Windsor, there will be no residential garbage or yard waste collection on Victoria Day. Those will be delayed one day this week. Check your 2024 collection calendar for more information. Night commercial, front-end loader, and weekly recycling collection will take place as normal.

The public drop-off and household chemical waste depots at Central Avenue and E.C. Row will be closed on Monday.

All of Windsor's arenas, community centres, and customer care centres are closed, expect for previously-booked events or rentals

The indoor public pools and fitness centres at the WFCU Centre and Gino and Liz Marcus Community Centre are closed Mondays. The same is true for the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre.

Adventure Bay Family Water Park is open from 12 noon to 4 p.m.

All Windsor Public Library branches are closed on Victoria Day and will switch to summer hours effective Tuesday. Essex County Library branches are also closed.

There will be no street parking enforcement in the City of Windsor on Monday, and the municipal ticket payment office will be closed. You can still make payments online. Paid surface lots and garages will be open as usual.

Transit Windsor will operate on a Sunday and holiday schedule on Monday, but the customer service office at 300 Chatham Street West will be closed. The tunnel bus to Detroit will operate on a normal weekday schedule.

The Chimczuk Museum and Francois Baby House are closed on Monday, their usual day off.
