EWSWA extends deadline for businesses to register for recycle pickup

The City of Windsor will be responsible for recycling pick-up for businesses and not-for-profits that are not eligible for collection under the new provincial program.

Under the new program, Circular Materials will take over residential recycling pick-up from the Essex Windsor Solid Waste Authority.

However, many small businesses and not-for-profits have been named non-eligible sources and do not fall under the new program.

As a result, the City of Windsor and EWSWA have entered into a new agreement to provide collection to those non-eligible sources.

To fulfil this agreement, any business or not-for-profit that currently has the EWSWA collect its recycling must register with the authority by May 31 to continue to receive recycling collection after August 27.

EWSWA won't know the full expense until after the list of registrants is complete. The authority will pay those costs out of its budget. It's funded by the City of Windsor and the County of Essex.
