Ojibway park bill delayed until the fall

Brian Masse's private-members bill to create Ojibway National Urban Park of Canada will not be back in front of the Senate until the fall.

Testimony was made to the Committee Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources last week.

“Discussions with Senators on this bill have proved very productive and they are supportive of this legislation. Everyone wants to see this park move forward and I am grateful to them for their work thus far,” said Masse.

Work on the bill will continue through the summer months. Masse noted any proposed amendments will be discussed with affected parties before the bill is reintroduced.

The planning process on park boundaries and management with Parks Canada will also continue despite the bill not moving forward immediately.
