Art in the Park gets underway this weekend

Art in the Park celebrates 44 years this weekend at Willistead Park.

This year, the two-day event on June 1 and 2 will feature over 270 vendors from Ontario and Quebec.

"This event is one of Ontario's largest outdoor arts and crafts shows," said a release from the organizers, Rotary Club of Windsor (1918). "The exhibitors display and retail their wares in booths set up around the 15.5 acres of gated grounds surrounding the beautiful and historic Willistead Manor."

The festival raises money to restore the historic home in Willistead Park and other charitable projects by the Rotary Club of Windsor (1918).

It's open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $7 in advance and $8 at the door, although children 12 and under are free. Festival goers can pay cash or electronically at every gate.

There is entertainment during the event, and the food court features high-end local restaurants with menu choices for all.

Free shuttle service is from the Hiram Walker parking lot and the 1591 Kildare parking lot.

Dogs and pets are not allowed in the park during the event.

Art in the Park started in 1970 and was hosted by the Art Gallery of Windsor.
