The City of Windsor is looking for developers interested in building housing at the city's Caron Avenue parking lot.
As part of the City's Housing Solutions Made for Windsor Strategy, the city has officially launched the expression of interest process for the site.
"We're inviting developers and proponents to submit comprehensive proposals that will align with Windsor's vision of smart housing solutions for sustainable, inclusive, and community oriented development," said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens.
Submissions will be accepted until August 23, 2024.
Over 30 developers have expressed an interest in the city's Housing Solutions Made for Windsor Strategy and the properties that were originally announced in March.
The Windsor Arena site and former Grace Hospital site have been added to the list of surplus municipal properties that could be developed for housing. Other municipal properties identified for housing developments include the former Lowe Secondary School site, Pelissier Street Parking Lot, and Roseland Golf Club Parking Lot.
Dilkens said they are looking for developments that cover all types of housing needs.
"We want to find that balance of having a builder build something nice that ultimately increases the housing stock both on the affordable side, the missing middle side but also that makes business sense," said Dilkens.
