A local manufacturing company celebrated its 100th anniversary by planting 100 trees in the community.
Viking Pump Canada Inc. has been manufacturing and distributing quality industrial pumps and pump systems since 1924.
“As we started planning the 100th anniversary of Viking Pump of Canada, we considered the longevity of our company and its importance in today’s world,” said Amy Maxey, Business Line Director. “This reflection brought us to ERCA, offering us a chance to celebrate our sustainability and contribute to the sustainability of our local environment.”
Employees joined the Essex Region Conservation Foundation along the Chrysler Canada Greenway in Harrow to help plant the trees over the weekend.
“Adding 100 trees to the Greenway trail enhances its function as a habitat corridor, helps mitigate flooding and the impacts of climate change. This is a demonstration of leadership in corporate social responsibility and enhances the environmental sustainability of our region," said Claire Wales, President of the Essex Region Conservation Foundation.
