Transit Windsor has warned tunnel bus users that service could be affected should there be a job action by agents with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
CBSA employees who work the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel could be involved in job action as soon as 4 p.m. Friday, as contract talks continue.
With that in mind, Transit Windsor Executive Director Tyson Cragg said the system is not spared when it comes to delays it can't control.
"Our tunnel bus is just like any personal or professional vehicle crossing our border," said Cragg. "We’re not immune to delays, so we just want to ensure riders know we could all face delays when returning to Canada."
The checkpoints on the Detroit side of the tunnel should not be affected by any CBSA job action.
The tunnel bus was running normally and on schedule late Friday morning. However, those returning from downtown Detroit Friday night may run into delays.
Transit Windsor will monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.
