The Libro Centre in Amherstburg will be off-limits to the public Tuesday morning as the town conducts an annual emergency exercise.
The fire department and town employees will practice setting up the Emergency Worker Centre from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Emergency Worker Centre would get activated in any large scale emergency including a nuclear emergency at the Fermi II Plant.
“Failing to practice is practicing to fail,” said Community Emergency Management Coordinator and Fire Chief Bruce Montone.
In the event of a nuclear emergency the centre would be used for radiation monitoring and decontamination, and as a staging and rest area for emergency workers.
