Windsor retiree says yes to a $100K prize

A Windsor man has benefitted from spending a little extra playing the lottery.

Retiree Umberto Vadori paid an extra dollar to activate the Encore feature on his Ontario 49 ticket, for the May 25 draw. He matched the last six digits in a row to collect the second prize of $100,000.

Vadori picked up his prize cheque at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. He said he always played Encore.

"I was at the store checking my ticket when I saw the words 'Big Winner' appear on the screen," said Vadori. "I double-checked it a few times to make sure."

Once he confirmed he was a winner, he went home and called his son.

"He sarcastically asked me, 'What is it? Did you win the lottery?' Sure enough, I did," said Vadori.

He plans to share the winnings with family and travel.

Vadori purchased his ticket at a Mac's on Wyandotte Street in Windsor.
