WRH paediatric department receives major donation

The W.E. Care for Kids Foundation made a $305,699.15 donation to the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation last year.

The funds supported the purchase of fetal monitors and infant radian warmers in the Family Birthing Unit, syringe pumps for the NICU and Paediatric Department and audiology equipment for the Paediatric Department.

"Some of these tools are expensive, they are much needed, and some of these tools are state-of-the-art so it certainly allows us to function at a high level and provide quality patient care on a day-to-day basis," said Dr. Sajit Augustine, Chief of Paediatrics.

The money raised came from Tim Horton's Smile Cookie campaign as well as community fundraisers like the lemonade brigade which encourages children throughout the community to raise funds through lemonade stands.

"Our lemonade brigade probably made about $15,000. So from that to Smile Cookies this year which was amazing for us, that was a very significant donation. All of it together we were able to come up with this great total," said Vicki Grado, Executive Director of W.E. Care for Kids.
