Amherstburg driver faces impaired driving charges in hit and run

Windsor Police arrested a 36-year-old man from Amherstburg on Tuesday night after a vehicle struck a parked SUV.

It happened just before 9 a.m. on Grandview Street.

The driver didn't stick around.

Officers identified the other vehicle involved, and it didn't take them long to find it in a parking lot on Tecumseh Road East near Rivard Avenue.

They noticed a strong alcohol odour on the driver's breath, so they arrested him and took him back to headquarters, where he failed a breath test.

The driver faces charges of operating a conveyance while impaired by alcohol, failing to stop at a collision, driving without a license, and careless driving.

Anyone who has information or witnessed the crash can call investigators at 519-255-6700, Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477, or leave a tip at www.catchcrooks.com.
